Abstract

My doctoral research initially focused on the possibility of political emancipation in the work of Alain Badiou. Insofar as the question of the subject showed itself crucial to this matter, I became convinced that the field of psychoanalysis and the figure of Jacques Lacan had to be addressed unavoidably. Hence, I examined the hypothesis that Badiou has taken up the challenge of Lacan’s critique on the way in which the history of philosophy has dealt with subjectivity. In this way, my dissertation investigates the possibility of a psychoanalytical ‘revolution’ for philosophy in the particular case of Badiou.
