We examine how the French- and Dutch-speaking TV audiences are introduced to the Flemish and French communities and their languages, through daily news broadcasts. Our research looks at how the French and the Dutch languages are used when journalists prepare and produce their reports in the other language of the country, during all stages of the process up until the actual broadcast. We therefore conduct qualitative interviews with TV news journalists employed by the Belgian French- and Dutch- speaking public broadcasters RTBF and VRT.
