This research project was conceptualized as an explorative research project aimed at (1) developping a research instrument for mapping the social networks of newcomers and gaining insight in the impact of second language courses and integration courses on building social networks; (2) testing the usefulness of the instrument by conducting a limited number of interviews with respondents; and (3) formulating recommendations for optimizing a larger implementation of the research instrument.
