Trisha Mahoney is a PhD researcher in English Literature in the Department of Literary Studies at Ghent University. Her project, entitled “Epic Fun or Epischer Spaß: The Comic as Political in Anglophone Adaptations of Bertolt Brecht’s Plays and Epic Theatre, ca. 1990-2025,” examines how humor and the comic resists depoliticization, even in the highly commercialized theatrical spaces such as Broadway or the West End, and ultimately, allows for Bertolt Brecht’s work in Anglophone theatres to remain engaged in social critique.
She received her B.F.A. in “Dramaturgy and Criticism” at DePaul University’s Theatre School and her M.A. in “Comparative Studies in English and American Language, Literature, and Culture” at the Heinrich Heine Universität.
