Colinda Lindermann is a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University in the ERC-project KNOW: Polymathy and Interdisciplinarity in Premodern Islamic Epistemic Cultures.
She holds an MA in Classics from Leiden University (2005) and and MA in Arabic Studies from Freie Universität Berlin (2016). In 2023, she defended her PhD thesis on pre-modern Arabic lexicography at Freie Universität Berlin. Her monograph Dictionary as Commentary: Arabic Lexicography in the Post-Formative Period will be published this year in the Brill series Global Arabic Literary Cultures, edited by Beatrice Gründler and Isabel Toral.
Her research interests include the history of Arabic language scholarship, Arabic lexicography and grammar, technical terminology, Islamic intellectual history and history of knowledge, commentary culture, comparative philology, and pre-Islamic poetry.
She is the Managing Editor of the journal Philological Encounters (Leiden: Brill), which is devoted to the historical and philosophical critique of philology as a global practice.
