Abstract

In recent years several forms of collaboration between journalists, scientific experts, scientific institutions (and their PR staff) and citizen groups have become more frequent (Houston, 2010; Spangenberg & Heise, 2016). This project aims to investigate collaboration between these actors within the news production process, using a linguistic ethnographic approach. The project focuses on a citizen science case set up by a newspaper organization, university and government organization and examines, amongst others, the construction of expertise, professional identity and practices, news values and (de)politicization processes.
