Alexander Deweppe graduated as a Master of Arts (in Art Science, historical musicology) from Ghent University in 2006, and between 2008 and 2012 worked as a PhD-student in systematic and sociomusicology at the Institute of Psychoacoustics and Electronic Music (IPEM) at Ghent University. The main focus of his doctoral dissertation "Sonic Moves and Moving Sounds" is on the value and necessity of QoE en HCI research in the field of Embodied Music Mediation Technologies. He will finish and defend his PhD in 2017. From 2008 to 2012, Alexander has been working for iMinds–SMIT–VUB and CEMeSo–VUB as a senior researcher for the Flemish Policy Research Centers for Culture and Media, supervising several e-culture, media literacy and digital arts research lines. In 2017, he succesfully defended his doctoral dissertation, started working as the coordinator of medialab Quindo, a spin-off of the West-Flemish University College and became a lecturer in the journalism curriculum at UGent association-partner Howest.
