Koen Vanheule obtained his Master degree in History at the University of Ghent in 2010 (with a dissertation on representations of early medieval heathenism in hagiographic literature from the High Middle Ages), and an advanced Master in Conflict and Development Studies at the University of Ghent in 2011 (with a dissertation on international development projects in the Jordan Valley, Palestine).
Since Octobre 2011, he is working as a PhD-Student at the University of Ghent on a FWO-project from prof. dr. S. Vanderputten (Ugent) and prof. dr. B. Meijns (KULeuven), entitled 'Monastic leadership in the post-charismatic age: constructing a new paradigm for the study of reforms before the emergence of the great Orders (Western Europe, tenth-early twelfth centuries)'. Currently, he is in the final stages of writing his dissertation.
