Elena Vanden Abeele is an art historian specialising in nineteenth-century fashion and textiles, with a particular emphasis on the role of women. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in art history from KU Leuven in 2023 and completed an internship at the Fashion & Lace Museum in Brussels. Elena works as a PhD student on her project 'Fashion in Belgium (1830–1914): Garments, Organisation, Gender, Class and Nationalism', funded by the FWO and under the supervision of Prof. Maude Bass-Krueger (Ghent University) and Dr. Wendy Wiertz (Utrecht University).
