I am an Assistant professor of second language acquisition and language didactics in the department of Linguistics at Ghent University and an FWO postdoctoral fellow at KU Leuven. My main research interests center around untangling how instruction may effectively enhance (second) language and literacy acquisition, both in K12 education and in adult education.
In my PhD research (KU Leuven, 2020), I examined the implementation and effectiveness of school-based language policies in Flemish primary schools. In my postdoctoral research (FWO junior, 2021-2024) I focused on the effectiveness of L2 instruction for L2 receptive skills in adults with diverging levels of schooling, and on L2 reading development in adult L2 learners with emergent literacy (FWO senior, 2025-2028).
