Orphée is assistant professor at the LT3 language and translation technology team at Ghent University, leading the research line on language technology for educational applications.
She is mainly interested in how natural language processing techniques can aid computer-assisted language learning and has a great expertise in deep semantic processing, readability prediction, automated writing evaluation and sentiment analysis using machine learning techniques.
Currently Orphée is (co-)supervising four PhD-students on the subjects of automated writing evaluation, automated writing assessment, event coreference resolution and cross-lingual transfer. She was also co-supervisor of PhDs on emotion detection and translatability prediction. She is an advocate of interdisciplinary research, illustrated by her active involvement in projects such as Steunpunt Toetsen, SentEMO and NewsDNA.
