This explorative research project was aimed at (1) detecting, mapping and describing the most important forms of non-formal second language learning for adult migrants in education and training in Flanders; (2) mapping the cooperation, accomodation and complementarity between different actors in the field of adult second language learning; (3) gaining insight in the way different forms of formal and non-formal language learning contribute to the double policy objective of second langauge learning (language acquisition and social integration); (4) formulating policy recommendations.
A mixed method approach, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods, was used.
