In the fall of 2018, the Centre for Research on Culture and Gender with support of the Flemish Ministry of Equal Opportunities, will launch an information platform about variations of sex characteristics (intersex/dsd), called IDEM. Under the slogan 'Every body counts', the platform aims to improve (equal) access to information about biological sex diversity, care decisions and social wellbeing for the targeted group through informing and sensitizing society, health care providers, media and politics, both in Belgium and abroad. Dr. Nina Callens is also continuing her work with knowledge experts and stakeholders to enhance care pathways and equal access to specialized care for variations in sex characteristics in Belgium, with support of the Federal Secretary of State for Equal Opportunities. Specific information brochures for parents and young people will be developed as well and launched in the spring of 2019.
