Jeroen Vandaele (PhD KULeuven) teaches Literary Translation, Hispanic Literatures, and Spanish Language Structures at Ghent University's Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication. From 2008 until 2017 he worked at the University of Oslo (Norway) as a professor of Spanish, teaching courses in Translation Studies, Cognitive Poetics, and Academic Writing (MA). He was a Visiting Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2012) and, earlier, a doctoral guest researcher at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. In the Fall of 2023, he is a Mare Balticum Fellow at Rostock University.
Research interests: Ideology in Translation; Francoism; Comedy; Humor in Translation; Poetics; Cognitive Literary Studies; Narratology (including Film Narratology); Spanish language teaching.
Jeroen Vandaele doceert Literaire Vertaling (Spaans-Nederlands), Spaanstalige Letterkunde en Taalstructuren Spaans aan de UGent, vakgroep VTC. Eerder was hij hoogleraar Spaans aan de Universiteit van Oslo, waar hij o.a. colleges Vertaalwetenschap, Cognitieve Literaire Theorie, en Academische Schrijfvaardigheid (MA) verzorgde.
