Elisa holds a Master of Arts in Interpreting (Dutch, English & Spanish) which she obtained at Ghent University in 2019. She continued her studies in the Master’s programme of Conflict & Development Studies at the Faculty of Social & Political Sciences, where she graduated in 2021 Magna Cum Laude. A combination of a linguistic and sociopolitical Master’s degree offered her the tools to prepare a research application on how discourse in digital media spaces shape transit migration in Mexico. After gaining a first work experience in education and campaigning with the NGO Oxfam Belgium, she was granted a PhD scholarship in 2023 with the Spanish section at the department of Translation, Interpreting & Communication at Ghent University. Her interests lie at the intersections of language, discourse, audiovisual translation, social change and migration in the context of Mexico, Central and South America.
