Jasper Degraeuwe holds a Master's degree in Interpreting (Dutch, English, Spanish) and a Postgraduate Certificate Computer-Assisted Language Mediation, both of which he obtained at Ghent University. Intelligent Computer-Assisted Language Learning (ICALL) and foreign language acquisition/learning are his primary research interests. He is affiliated with the LT³ and MULTIPLES research groups at the Ghent University Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication, where he, in October 2019, started the PhD project "IVESS: Intelligent Vocabulary and Example Selection for Spanish vocabulary learning". With the IVESS project, he aims to improve Natural Language Processing-driven methodologies for ICALL purposes, and to gauge the attitudes of teachers and students towards working with automatically generated vocabulary learning materials.
