Abstract

LOKSTAT is an interdisciplinary database of local and regional statistics on Belgium in the period 1800-1970. The data collections are based on the official censuses of the population, agriculture, trade and industry that have taken place in Belgium and on historical sources with local statistics. The database contains data for all Belgian municipalities (approx. 2500-2700) with regard to a wide range of social themes, ranging from population, family, migration, labor, agriculture, economy, education to elections. With the help of a cartographic module (HISGIS) the figures can be presented on a map and analyzed in detail.

A website is available in which parts of the database are consultable for the general public. For more information on this project: www.Lokstat.UGent.be

Lokstat.UGent.be
