Alexandra Sanchez holds a BA and MA in English and Spanish Literature and Linguistics from VUB, along with an Advanced BA in Applied Audiovisual Communication from Thomas More. She also earned an Advanced MA in Literary Studies from KU Leuven, an Advanced MA in European Studies from UCL/BICC, and a PhD in Translation Studies from KU Leuven. Her doctoral research focused on the audiovisual transfer of migration in documentary film, culminating in her monograph Discourses of Migration in Documentary Film: Translating the Real to the Reel (2022).
As a professor of audiovisual translation, Alexandra specializes in intercultural mediation between Anglophone and Hispanophone cultures. Her research explores the intersections of identity, resistance, and narrative in transnational media, with a particular focus on how audiovisual content is adapted, received, and reimagined across linguistic and cultural boundaries.
