Joris Van Doorsselaere has been a secondary school teacher since 2011, teaching history, aesthetics, and cultural studies. He holds a Master’s degree in History (Ghent University, 2013), a Master’s degree in Art Sciences and Archaeology (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, 2020), and a PhD in History (Ghent University, 2025). His research focuses on museum and heritage education, history education, and the implementation of arts and cultural education policy. As both a teacher and an historian, he studies the history of the teaching profession, with a particular interest in the political and cultural dimensions of the research–practice gap. At the same time, he examines the historical relationship between the humanities and education in Belgium and Flanders.
