Laura Nys is historian. Her research concerns the social history of emotions, youth, gender and the history of social movements. Her PhD dissertation (2020) focused on the role of emotions in Belgian reform schools for juvenile offenders throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. From 2020 to 2023 she worked as assistant-professor at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul. She is currently a research fellow at the Independent Social Research Foundation and visiting researcher at the Centre for the History of the Emotions (Queen Mary University, London).
Laura Nys verricht onderzoek naar de sociale geschiedenis van emoties, jongeren, gender en de geschiedenis van sociale bewegingen. In haar doctoraatsonderzoek (2020) bestudeerde ze de rol van emoties in Belgische heropvoedingsinstellingen in de 19e en 20ste eeuw. Van 2020 tot 2023 werkte ze als assistent-professor aan de Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul. Sinds november 2023 is ze research fellow bij de Independent Social Research Foundation en visiting research fellow bij het Centre for the History of Emotions aan de Queen Mary University in Londen.
