Sven Vrielinck (°1964) is a scientific collaborator at the History Department of the University of Ghent. His research focuses on the development of statistical and spatial data infrastructures for contemporary and early modern history. From 2001 to 2009 he worked as a programme manager at the Federal Science Policy Office in Brussels, where he was responsible for research programme’s in the broad field of the social sciences. He co-ordinated the publication series ’Science and Society’, ‘Society and Future’ and ‘Social Cohesion’. Sven Vrielinck worked as a researcher on the projects HISSTAT - Interuniversity Network for Local Statistics from the 19th and 20th Centuries, POPPKAD – Development of a Land Register in Belgium (1850), and STREAM - Spatiotemporal Research Infrastructure for Early Modern Flanders and Brabant. He is now a collaborator of the QUETELET Center for Quantitative Historical Research.
