This doctoral research project focuses on the translation and reception of the Nouveau Roman in Spain during Francoism. On the one hand, it studies the effects of Francoist censorship on the translation of Nouveau Roman authors. On the other hand, it intends to determine which position the Nouveau Roman acquired in the Spanish literary field through translations and other aspects of reception during Francoism. The double-focused aim is therefore to illuminate how the Nouveau Roman is historically received in Spain by means of translation, and how this translation and reception had an impact on the Spanish literary field in the context of Francoist censorship.
